Great for Golf Outings, The Harvey Penick Academy Celebrates 25th Anniversary

The Harvey Penick Academy at the Wolfdancer Golf Club is celebrating 25 years in business this year. Wolfdancer Golf Club is nestled among 400 acres of scenic Texas wilderness at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa. To celebrate the event, the Harvey Penick Academy will donate 10 percent of all class proceeds to the Austin chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The foundation is an international leader in funding Type I diabetes research.

The academy was founded in 1993 to provide golf instruction rooted in the values and methodology of Harvey Penick, a respected golf professional and coach for the University of Texas golf team and Hall of Fame golfers, Betsy Rawls, Tom Kite, and Ben Crenshaw. Penick also authored the best-selling golf book, “Harvey Penick’s Little Red Book.”

The Harvey Penick Academy is led by professional golfer, Jim Hopkins, and provides single and multi-day golf clinics tailored for all skill levels. Group clinics can accommodate up to 25 golfers and include three hours of morning instruction, nine holes of play and additional instruction each afternoon. Clinic participants receive a video analysis and a take-home manual as a part of their experience.

“Having such an esteemed, world-class golf academy at our property, gives us the opportunity to provide groups with an experience that is not available anywhere else,” says Brianna Guzman, marketing manager at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa.

The Wolfdancer Golf Club which features a 7,205 yard, 18-hole course designed by well-known golf course architects Arthur Hills and Associates. The course also offers a full-service practice facility including a 13-acre driving range, two putting greens and two greenside bunkers. Staff at the Wolfdancer Golf Club can arrange a variety of teambuilding and group golf options including scrambles, company tournaments and ‘closest to the pin’ challenges.

The Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa is located on the banks of the lower Colorado River just 23 miles from Austin. The AAA Four Diamond resort features 491 guest rooms including 58 suites, the 24-hour StayFit Gym, Spa Django, the McKinney & Williams Business Center, eight different dinning outlets and the Crooked River Water Park and pool area.

The resort offers more than 60,000 sq. ft. indoor meeting space, including boardrooms, breakout rooms, pre-event space and the 15,193-square-foot Lost Pines Ballroom which can accommodate up to 1,700 guests. Beyond golf, guests can enjoy exploring the 1,100-acre McKinney Roughs Nature Park, archery and trap shooting, kayaking and rafting, 18 miles of hiking trails, live weekly music and a nightly s’mores roast at the resort’s outdoor fire pits.
